Everyone must complete safety training before using the wood shop. Open-toed shoes and loose-fitting clothing/jewelery cannot be worn in the shop; safety goggles must be worn at all times. See the Wood Shop Technician on duty for full safety information and training.
Note: Hours for each quarter typically begin during the second week of the term. This is due to the fact the work-study students are the staff for the shop, and they need the first week of the term to work out their class/employment schedules. (By the way, students consider this to be a great workstudy job.)
Note: As of Fall 2011, the exterior monitor office door will remain closed while monitors are on duty. If you need to speak with the monitor or sign out a tool, please use the check-out window. The following tools are available to check out with a Signed Liability Release and your SCAD ID:
Jig Saw, Handsaw, Hacksaw, Orbital Sander (please specify grit), Power Drill/Driver (please specify bit, Forstner bits are available), Standard Router (please specify collet size 1/4” or 1/2”, D-handle and standard and plunge bases available, bring your own bit ), Trim Router (bring your own bit), Screwdriver, Hammer, Plier (standard and needle nose), Measuring Tape, Clamp, Ratchet strap, Level, Allen wrenches (hex keys), Crescent/Box wrenches, Adjustable wrenches, Ratchet Set
